What is ZETONNA (ciclesonide) Nasal Aerosol?
ZETONNA Nasal Aerosol is a prescription medicine that treats seasonal and year-round allergy symptoms in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is for use in the nose only.
IMPORTANT PATIENT INFORMATION
Do not spray ZETONNA (ciclesonide) Nasal Aerosol in your eyes or directly onto your nasal septum (the wall inside your nose between your two nostrils).
ZETONNA Nasal Aerosol may cause serious side effects. Call your healthcare provider right away if you experience any of the following:
- nose bleeds and ulcers or sores in the nose
- hole in the cartilage in the nose (also called a nasal septal perforation). Stop using ZETONNA if you have symptoms such as:
- crusting in the nose
- nose bleeds
- runny nose
- whistling sound when you breathe
- thrush (yeast infection; also called Candida), a fungal infection in your nose, mouth or throat. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any redness or white colored patches in your mouth or throat.
- slow wound healing. Before using ZETONNA (ciclesonide) Nasal Aerosol, tell your healthcare provider if you have had recent nose problems, such as a nasal septal perforation, nasal ulcers or sores, nasal surgery or nasal injury, and do not use ZETONNA until your nose has healed.
- eye problems such as glaucoma and cataracts. Tell your healthcare provider if you have, have had in the past, or have a family history of these eye problems, and have regular eye exams while using ZETONNA.
- susceptibility to infections. Before using ZETONNA, tell your healthcare provider if you have any infections, including tuberculosis or eye herpes, and if have not had or been vaccinated for chicken pox or measles. While using ZETONNA, avoid contact with people who have contagious infections such as chicken pox or measles. Symptoms of infections include fever, pain, aches, chills, feeling tired, nausea and vomiting.
- a type of hormonal insufficiency called adrenal insufficiency. Symptoms include tiredness, weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting.
- slowed or delayed growth in children. The growth of children using ZETONNA should be checked regularly by a healthcare provider.
- allergic reactions, such as swelling of the lips, tongue or throat. Do not use ZETONNA Nasal Aerosol if you are allergic to ciclesonide or any of the ingredients in ZETONNA Nasal Aerosol.
The most common side effects with ZETONNA include nasal discomfort, headache and nose bleeds.
